It's nice to recommend things!
In no particular order.
The National
Primarily for readers in Scotland, but may well have interest beyond as it covers global news. Scottish news, politics, opinion, culture and features from Scotland’s only pro-independence newspaper. Also the only general newspaper that will have pro-Palestine, anti-imperialism and anti-war articles. Ask for it in your newsagent, or subscribe to the digital edition.
Socialist Worker
Socialist Worker is a revolutionary socialist newspaper. Keep up to date with socialist news and analysis from Britain and around the world. I buy a copy when I go to pro-Palestine demos.
Morning Star
A reader-owned co-operative, which means you can become part of the paper by buying shares in the People’s Press Printing Society.
Ethical Consumer Magazine
Ethical Consumer covers independent product guides, research, information and analysis (since 1989!). An independent, not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder co-operative with open membership. Highly recommended if you believe in improving the world by making informed purchasing choices and avoiding giving money to the bad guys.
Positive News
A media organisation dedicated to reporting about what’s going right. Often a counteraction to the endless gloom, showing positive stories. Though do be aware that they seem to be pro-vaccination and pro-vivisection (killing animals in misleading medical research, as Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation do). If either of those are issues for you, then you’ll want to go elsewhere.
