Palestinian Books
Books are good!
I received this email recently from a Palestine Solidarity group:
“How would I find out whether a Palestinian author is publishing a new book? As one initiative, we are wondering about hosting or encouraging Waterstones and/or other local bookshops to host a book launch.”
I’ll share the answer I gave.
Basically, new books are often covered in some of the newsletters I subscribe to. Here’s a selection.
WAWOG
WRITERS AGAINST THE WAR ON GAZA (WAWOG): their newsletter includes links to new books sometimes. The latest one had two.
Palfest
Palfest (Palestine Festival of Literature) always has new book reviews and events. You can buy many of the titles in their online bookshop. They also have a newsletter called The Key.
Avigail Abarbanel
I read Avigail Abarbanel’s Fully Human Essays, and some of her posts are about the Book Club On Palestine where you can meet the author. Avigail writes some good posts about breaking out of zionism, such as this one.
You might also want to see my post Free Films About Palestine, which was updated again recently.
PS If you want to buy me a coffee, that’s an option, and gratefully received! It helps fund all these posts. I’m also an author, in case you want to treat yourself to my lovingly created books, and I help writers improve their craft.

I also enjoyed: We Are Not Numbers: The Voices of Gaza's Youth ISBN 978-1-529-15517-4. It predates the current war but gives a wonderful sense of the beauty of the people there in the midst of awful situations.
