My Cat, Dolly
She is a wonderful friend
Dolly is my best friend. I spend more time in her company than with most humans. She sits on my lap while I write, and she helps me stay mentally balanced.
She’s sixteen years old (coming up to seventeen) and has been with me since she turned up on my doorstep and adopted me in Wales.
She has diabetes so has to be injected with insulin twice a day; as I have a phobia of needles, and with Dolly being so small and fragile, it’s difficult! She maybe also has some kidney issues, but never lets it get in the way of her pleasures in life (eating, cuddles, sleeping, being brushed). I love it when she is her old self: talkative, cuddly, inquisitive, and occasionally bossy.
Last week was one of the worrying times when she had to go into the vets for a few nights as an emergency. I missed her so much for three days. When I collected her she was a bit wobbly but very vocal. Lovely lady. Boss of me.
The vet bill was about £1000 this time (more than staying at a luxury spa, probably!) but she’s worth a bit of debt.
If anybody does want to help out you can take out a small paid sub for a while, to either this politics newsletter, my newsletter for authors, or my writing page.
Dolly has a check-up at the vets later, so send loving wishes to my remarkable cat.

Dolly looks very pretty. Is that a bandage around her little leg? I hope she gets better soon. Sending purrs 😻
